Good evening everyone! Welcome to a new episode of “Stocks Today”, explaining what forces moved the stocks in the U.S. equity market today (Wednesday, January 13, 2021).
The three main indexes closed flat today. While the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq closed positive, up respectively 0.23% and 0.43%, the Dow Jones closed slightly negative today.
Why did the stock market move today?
The House of Representatives voted on impeaching President Trump today, capturing most of the attention from the media. Nevertheless, investors seemed more focused on the near future, with the reassuring prospects for new stimulus checks coming soon.
